Alzheimer's Glass and Iron's Mission

Alzheimer’s Glass and Iron is a multi-step, cross-generational art project that will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.  The project consists of six steps:

1) We visit care homes and spend quality time with elderly community members making watercolor and iron oxide paintings...

2) Their art is interpreted by iron castors, glass castors and glass blowers who make a sculpture in homage or response...

3) We teach new skills to artists who have never worked with glass or metal before...

4.) Via Glass Demos and Iron Pours we rally the whole community to come together...(Alzheimer’s Association representatives are present to answer questions about the disease.)  These gathering are target towards caregivers and the grandchildren of elderly who suffer with Alzheimer’s disease...

5) We host gallery shows that culminates in an auction of the featured art pieces...

6) We send the proceeds to the Alzheimer's Association - all while doing the important work of raising Alzheimer's awareness!
